Mazal is a Kosher restaurant in Camden serving Middle Eastern street food. It opened in the summer of 2023, and was started by two Israeli chefs, Neta and Aviv. It serves shawarmas, falafels, schnitzels, kebabs and steak. We decided to go there to check it out. This post is my review of Mazal restaurant in Camden.

Review of Mazal Restaurant in Camden
We visited Mazal at lunch time in the middle of the week and we able to get a table easily, but I can imagine it would get busy on Sundays. The restaurant is located in Camden’s new Hawley Wharf, on the second floor. Below is a photograph of the entrance.

The waiter recommended that we try the Turkey shawarma in pita (pictured below), which we ordered along with a side of cauliflower. The shawarma comes with a selection of toppings including creamy hummus, spicy schug, tahini, amba (mango pickle sauce), fresh tomatoes, cucumber, pickles, and crunchy white cabbage.

The cauliflower side dish, shown below, came with tomato salsa, tahini and parsley. We found the cauliflower florets to be tender on the inside with a satisfying crispiness on the outside. The tomato salsa provided a burst of tangy sweetness, while the tahini added a rich and nutty flavour – it was the perfect combination!

Our Verdict
The dishes arrived promptly, and we were impressed by the generous portion sizes. The Turkey shawarma, wrapped in warm pita bread, was bursting with flavour, and perfectly complemented by the cauliflower which was beautifully presented.
Overall, we found the food at Mazal to be both delicious and satisfying. The restaurant lives up to its promise of serving high-end street food at affordable prices.
